Spellings

Plurals

When we change words from singular- (one) to plural (more than one) we need to think carefully about the spelling of these words.

For some words we just add s.

If a word ends in a y we change the y to an I and then add ies.

For some words we have to change the word altogether e.g child becomes children.
Some children’s spellings are:

  1. sleigh
  2. eight
  3. puppy =puppies
  4. man =men
  5. cat = cats
  6. lorry = lorries
  7. chair =chairs
  8. peace
  9. angrily
  10. suppose

Some children’s spellings are:

  1. through
  2. way
  3. been
  4. stop
  5. must
  6. red
