The suffix –ous
Many adjectives end with the suffix –ous.
For some words you just add the suffix to the root word.
If the root word ends with e like fame you drop the e and then add –ous  famous.
If the root word ends in with y you change the y to an i and then add ous e.g. Vary= various

  1. confusion
  2. division
  3. poisonous
  4. nervous
  5. various
  6. adventurous
  7. famous
  8. group
  9. busy
  10. difficult

Some children will have these spellings:

  1. good
  2. over
  3. going
  4. took
  5. think
  6. home
  7. didn’t
  8. group
  9. busy
  10. difficult
